Michigan Star Lineman Zak Zinter Suffers Serious Leg Injury in Intense Battle Against Ohio State

Late in the third quarter, Zinter was carted off the field with a significant left leg injury, casting a shadow over the highly anticipated game.

According to a Facebook post by Zinter's mother later in the day, the lineman sustained a broken tibia and fibula, necessitating surgery in the evening. Despite the adversity, the Michigan team displayed solidarity by FaceTiming Zinter from the locker room while he was at the emergency room.

The injury occurred when Zinter's leg buckled while blocking during an 18-yard pass from J.J. McCarthy to tight end AJ Barner. The game was tied at 17-17 with 2:19 left in the quarter. The distressing incident prompted players to quickly call for a medical cart.

Amid chants of "Let's go Zak," Zinter was loaded onto the cart and transported to a local hospital. Michigan's acting head coach, Sherrone Moore, and offensive line coach, shared some positive news after speaking with Zinter's mother. " He'll heal, and he'll be ready to go down the road at some point," stated Moore.

Despite the adversity, Michigan managed to rally. Blake Corum scored on the ensuing play, paying tribute to Zinter by holding up the numbers six and five, denoting Zinter's jersey number.
